Reminiscing Bibbie's Graduation in June '04

I was so proud, I felt no shame putting up a posterboard with her picture on it.

I used the Rasterbator http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/ to make a raster out of her face. What a memory...

Debbie and I Discovered Los Angeles Downtown

On Friday night, on the plane to LAX, I saw an ad about an interesting exhibition (of a chocolate room) at the MOCA museum. So I thought about checking it out the next day. We drove to the California Plaza but found that the spot pointed by the map was not accessible so we parked the car quite far form the plaza (on 4th St, between S Flower and Hope St). While walking toward the museum, we ended up making stops at different places.

Our first stop was the LA Public Library. It featured a park with several fountains, and a 6-story building with various kinds of literature. One of the fountains shows interesting writings defining what "A US Citizen" means. The picture shows Bibbie introducing a bell with some Japanese characters.

Facinated by our first stop, we decided to take the suggested tour around downtown. Several buildings and Parks that I remembered we visited are: YMCA facility, Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Mall, a Mall outside Bank of America building, Angels Flight (which was no longer operational since the trains were missing), Public Market, Ronal Reagan State Building, Jewelry Place, and Pershing Square.

Near the jewelry place, I found a little store which was selling electronic equipments and toys. I bought one toy that brought back some memories: The Magic Cube. Bibbie and I tried the magic cube at the Pershing Square. Boy.. the park was full of couples dating, it was a bit hard to concentrate on the cube.

It was definitely a pleasant experience discovering the LA Downtown for the first time with Bibbie.
