First Day Camping

The route seemed simple, and I did not bother to print out the direction to get to the Samuel P. Taylor Park. But then I ended up spending 2 hours instead of the planned 1.5 hours to reach there.

We arrived at Tomales Bay at around 1:00 PM. Jen, Steven, and I cooked lunch while Nas, Stephen, and Jon started pumping the raft. The sky was beautifully clear, and the water looked fresh blue.

At around 4:00 PM, I decided to start packing. I found out then that I was the only one excited about the idea of watching the elks. So I changed the plan and headed to our campground.

It was around 5:00 PM when we arrived at the campground. Our site was nicely located by the river. Unfortunately though, the site was very close to the main road. Imagine the sound of flowing water and the passing motors. Ya.. not so nice.

I started to prepare for dinner: beef curr + rice for main dish, and yogurt for the desert. Glad that everybody liked it.

Then the fun time. Bonfire. Interesting thing Jon found where he shined the flashlight around the smoke to show as if he was holding the sword of a Jedi Knight. It prompted Jen and I to experiment capturing the scene with our Canon digital cameras.

At the bonfire, we discovered the perfect way of roasting a marshmallow. It's not at the top of the fire, not in the heart of the fire, but by placing the marshmallow near the part of the log that has just been burnt, where it creates hot smokes slowly roasting the marshmallow to its brownish colour.

Then at night, we played cards a bit, played the silent game a bit, played uno a bit, shared some stories a bit, then went to our sleeping bags.

Spring Break Camping

Got the final count of people going to the Spring Break Camping. There will be Jennifer Prajudha, Nastasia Wongsopawiro, Stephen Trisno, Jonathan Lee, Steven Sutjandra, and me. Ko Paulus was kind to switch his Nissan Quest van with my Camry for the camping. Too kind, I felt embarassed explaining to him what all parts of my car that have fallen apart.

I also shared the general plan to all the teachers in the morning, just so they can give last minute suggestions if there may be any. As of now, here is the general plan:

* We are going to leave San Jose around 9:00 AM on Wednesday
Arriving at the beach around 11:00 AM,
explore and picnic on the beach, pitch our tent, rafting around Tomales Bay,
Dinner, Bonfire, Games, Bedtime.

* Wake up the next day , breakfast, devotional, put away tents,
hike to Mt. Wittenberg, have lunch while surrounded by awesome view,
then drive home.

All right.. I'm all excited, all ready about tomorrow!

Sing It With Me

Hallelujah. Your Love Is Amazing

Your love is amazing,
steady and unchanging
Your love is a mountain,
firm beneath my feet

Your love is a mystery,
how You gently lift me
When I am surrounded,
Your love carries me

Hallelujah,
Hallelujah
Hallelujah,
Your love makes me sing

Your love is surprising,
I can feel it rising
All the joy that's growing
deep inside of me

Every time I see You,
all Your goodness shines through
And I can feel this God song,
rising up in me

It's Good Friday!

Yes it is!

He was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

The Invention Column #1

In the beginning, God creates humans with 5 senses: Ears, Eyes, Skin, Tongue, and Nose. We can already synthesize sounds, video, smooth or harsh surface, cooking ingredients, but not sure if anyone has the capability of synthesizing smells.

I guess the perfume business have achieved this at some degree by mixing different aroma to produce certain smell, but I'm pretty sure nobody has been able to formulate or synthesize smells.

Something to think about...
